JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanical Coordinator oversees mechanical projects and ensures they are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role entails managing maintenance schedules, quality control, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and coordinating work across various departments
JOB DETAILS
- Oversee mechanical projects from conception to completion, ensuring all timelines and budgets are met.
- Coordinate tasks between mechanical engineers, contractors, and other team members.
- Prepare project schedules, monitor progress, and address any delays or issues that arise.
- Review mechanical system designs and specifications to ensure they meet project requirements.
- Assist with the selection of appropriate mechanical equipment and materials based on project needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Supervise mechanical engineers and technicians during the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Provide guidance and support to the team to resolve technical challenges.
- Delegate tasks and monitor team performance to ensure work is carried out efficiently.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure mechanical systems function as intended.
- Conduct inspections of mechanical equipment, systems, and installations to verify compliance with specifications and standards.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is conducted on mechanical systems and equipment
- Liaison between the different departments.
- Prepare and present progress reports to senior management.
- Resolve any communication or coordination issues that may arise during the project execution
- Develop and manage project budgets, including estimating costs for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Monitor resource usage and adjust schedules and tasks as necessary to stay within budget.
- Ensure that all mechanical work complies with safety regulations and best practices.
- Lead or participate in safety audits, and enforce safe work practices.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and provide technical support to resolve system failures or inefficiencies.
- Develop strategies for system improvements and implement solutions to increase efficiency
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A professional certification in project management.
- Proven experience in mechanical design
- Knowledge of data entry software, databases, and spreadsheet applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Google sheets
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Problem-solving skills, with an ability to handle complex technical challenges
- Project management skills, including budgeting and scheduling
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in mechanical engineering
